BLAGOVESHCHENSK, the Amur region, August 19 (Itar-Tass) - A dog named Druzhok (Friend) from the flood-affected Vladimirovka village in the Amur region stood in water the whole night guarding a household belonging to its owners.
The Andreyev family that owns the dog told Itar-Tass that the Zeya River had risen unexpectedly. The big water came at four o’clock in the morning. The family went to their relatives in Blagoveshchensk. They had to leave their dog Druzhok who used to live outdoors to their neighbors in Vladimirovka. Their house was not damaged by water at that time.
On the third day after the Andreyev family’s departure the dog swam to its house as if felt that a stranger could get into it.
“The dog stood on the upper step of the threshold guarding its flooded home the whole night. Even the rescuers could not fetch it. Druzhok was waiting for us!” Elena Andreyeva said. Druzhok became a hero of social networks. The photo of a dog that guarded a flooded house the whole night is drawing a huge number of commentaries and “I like it” marks.
In the meantime, Druzhok has reunited with his owners. All of them are now staying at the Andreyev family’s friends in Blagoveshchensk.
