MOSCOW, August 15 (Itar-Tass) - Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev believes that the current Russian-Chinese relations on issues of strategic security “are the best ever.” He made this statement at the ninth round of consultations on strategic security issues with member of the Chinese State Council Yang Jiechi.
“We are satisfied with the level of the development of relations with China, we regard them as the best ever,” Patrushev stressed. In his view, Russian-Chinese relations in this sphere are an example of “responsible, respectful cooperation and mutual taking into account of each other’s interests.” The Russian Security Council secretary noted that Russia and China are united by the correspondence of basic interests both in the sphere of foreign policy and in various spheres of bilateral practical cooperation.
Patrushev also said that cooperation between the two countries has become comprehensive in recent years and is becoming a key stabilizing factor in world politics, as well as allows Russia and China to speak with one voice on important security issues. According to him, the established dialogue “allows us not only in a frank and partnership manner to share the views on the word developments, but also to coordinate joint steps and the strategy of action.” “We are committed to the further development of this format of interaction, which has proved its relevance and effectiveness. What is most important is that the work of our mechanism should not be paused. It is necessary to work continuously,” the Russian Security Council secretary concluded.
Yang Jiechi expressed confidence that the consultations will help the sides to achieve new successes in Russian-Chinese cooperation. He also assessed the consultations as productive. According to him, Russia and China jointly stand up for the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and together contribute to ensuring peace on the planet.
