Rescuers in Indonesia continue search for missing Russian tourist

BANGKOK, August 15 (Itar-Tass) - The search for a Russian tourist who disappeared on the Indonesian island of Java has been futile so far, but policemen and rescuers continue the operation, public relations officer of the Russian Embassy to Indonesia Dmitry Solodov told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

"We are keeping contact with relatives of the Russian, as well as with the rescuers. The search operation that has been conducted since Sunday has yielded not result so far. Contact with the missing tourist was last time established on Monday, after that there have been no reports from him,” Solodov said.

The 25-year-old resident of Voronezh Yevgeny Luchina went missing while climbing the largest active volcano on the Java Island - Mount Merapi. The man went hiking a few days ago. On Saturday, he sent his girlfriend a text message in which he asked for help. On Monday, the Russian sent another message in which specified his whereabouts - near a river.
