Russian passenger seized with 12 kilograms of cocaine at Hong Kong airport

HONG KONG (XIANGANG), August 14 (Itar-Tass) - A female Russian passenger carrying 12 kilograms of cocaine in her luggage was detained at the Hong Kong international airport on Wednesday, local radio reports.

The 22-year-old woman had arrived from Brazil. Another passenger, a 35-year-old resident of Hong Kong, had arrived on the same flight with 48 kilogram of cocaine in his luggage.

Law enforcement agencies have not established any connection between the two.

An officer on duty at the airport customs service has confirmed to Itar-Tass the fact of the arrest, declining to give details of either of the suspects.

The seized drugs are worth around $7.5 million on the black market.
