Inflation in Russia edges up slightly in August

Consumer prices have grown 4.5% this year

MOSCOW, August 14 (Itar-Tass) - The growth of prices in Russia stopped from August 6 to 12, showing zero inflation, while from July 30 to August 5 inflation edged up by 0.1%, the Federal Agency for State Statistics said on Wednesday.

Consumer prices have grown 4.5% this year, it said. Last week, the pace growth in petrol prices slowed down a bit, with gasoline prices growing 0.6% against a 1.4% growth a week before it. Diesel fuel prices grew 0.3%, which was the same pace as during the week from July 30 to August 5.

Last year, inflation was 4.6% since the beginning of the year and 0.1% in August.

From August 6 to 12, egg and sugar prices went up by 1.7% and 1.4% accordingly, while milk, cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese and butter prices increased by 0.3-0.6%. Buckwheat and flour prices went down by 0.2%.

Fruit and vegetable prices decreased by 2.6% on the average, including potato prices by 6.0%, onion by 5.2%, cabbage by 4.3%, and carrot by 4.1%.
