More than 70% of polled Muscovites hail mayor’s activity

MOSCOW, August 14 (Itar-Tass) - Acting Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin enjoys respect among the Muscovites and has good chances to win in the upcoming mayoral election, according to the results of a telephone poll by the All-Russian Centre for the Study of Public Opinion, or WCIOM.

In particular, 72% of polled Muscovites hail his activity, WCIOM’s head Valery Fedotov said at a news conference on Wednesday. Forty-five percent of participants in the opinion poll said they would surely go to the polling stations, and another 29% said they would likely participate in the election.

A telephone opinion poll was carried out on August 8 to 10. A total of 1,200 people were polled, while the margin of error does not exceed 3.9%.

The mayoral election in Moscow is scheduled for September 8.
