NOVOSIBIRSK, August 9 (Itar-Tass) - The area of wildfires in Russia’s Siberia Federal District over the past day grew by 157.5 hectares.
The regional forestry department reports 23 wildfires in Siberia, which occupy the territory of 784.5 hectares.
“Dry thunders remain the main reason of the fires in the woods,” the source said.
On Thursday, fire brigades extinguished seven wildfires at 4.4 hectares. The reason is that the woods on fire are in areas, to which it is complicated to get.
“It is very difficult to deliver the equipment there, and we are using planes and helicopters to deliver fire fighters there,” a representative of the local forestry authority said.
Fires are registered in the Krasnoyarsk territory and in the Tomsk region.
