High water reaches over 350 houses in Chelyabinsk region

Rescuers have evacuated 628 people

MOSCOW, August 9 (Itar-Tass) - Over 350 houses remain in the water in the Chelyabinsk region, Russia’s EMERCOM reported on Friday.

“As of 07:00 Moscow time, heavy rains and high water in the Kyzyl-Chilik River have flooded 351 houses in Paris, Nagaibaksk region, and in Kartaly, where 1,091 people live,” the emergency situations’ ministry said.

511 yards and one bridge are under water. Rescuers have evacuated 628 people to safe places, where 374 people are already staying in temporary camps.

“The operation involves 520 rescuers and 128 specialized vehicles,” EMERCOM reported.
