South Ossetian President believes global community should recognize country's genocide

"From the 1920’s Georgia carried on war against South Ossetia," Leonid Tibilov said

TSKHINVAL, August 7 (Itar-Tass) - South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov said the world community should recognize the genocide of the South Ossetian people.

On the contrary the August 2008 scenario can repeat, Tibilov said.

“From the 1920’s Georgia carried on war against South Ossetia that is why we have right to raise the question on recognizing the genocide,” the president stressed.

In his view, the decision to coerce Georgia to peace “was right and necessary. This decision saved our people from full extermination”.
