DUSHANBE, August 6 (Itar-Tass) - Tajik customs officers have detained a female passenger on a Dushanbe-St. Petersburg flight attempting to smuggle 3.5 kilograms of heroin, an officer from the Tajik Customs Service told Tass on Tuesday.
He said the drugs had been found on inspection of her personal luggage. The 22-year-old passenger, whose name has not been released, has been held and taken to a detention centre.
Tajik law enforcement agencies have seized over 3.7 tons of drugs this year, a 10.5 percent year-on-year increase.
