17 people injured in bus accident in South Russia hospitalized

PYATIGORSK, August 6 (Itar-Tass) - A total of 17 passengers of the bus involved in a road accident in Russia’s southern Stavropol region earlier on Tuesday were rushed to hospital in Novoalexandrovsk, the regional disaster medicine centre has told Tass.

“A 26-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl are in a relatively grave condition. The woman has been transferred to Stavropol’s city clinic number 4,” the director of the centre, Eduard Kocharov, said.

According to him, most of the injured passengers have numerous bruises and glass wounds. Some patients received head injuries and fractures. All of them get all necessary medical assistance.

“Five ambulances arrived to the site of the crash nine minutes after it, which mitigated the effect of the crash,” medics say.

A passenger bus with tourists overturned at about 03:30 Moscow time on Tuesday on the Kropotkin-Novoalexandrovsk highway near the settlement Yuzhny. The bus was carrying 44 people. A young woman died in the road accident.
