ROSTOV-ON-DON, August 3 (Itar-Tass) - In the four months about 200 people have taken part in the voluntary blood donation action, the Healthcare Ministry’s press service told Itar-Tass.

Eleven volunteers have donated blood at the Rostov blood donation centre within the Saturday of Blood Donors action, the ministry reported.

“The action was being held every month from March to June on the initiative of residents themselves. People asked to donate blood at the weekend because they were busy on weekdays while the centre did not work on Saturday and Sunday,” the report says.

An official of the ministry said if about 150 people donate blood on weekdays, about 50 people wish to do this on Saturdays. The action involves ordinary people wishing to help their landsmen, who plunged into difficulty. Healthcare Minister Tatyana Bykovskaya, who is Russia’s honorary donor, was among volunteers, the official said.
