Almost 600 illegal gambling establishments found in Moscow

The police confiscated over 16,000 units of gambling equipment since January 2013

MOSCOW, August 2 (Itar-Tass) - Over first six months of the current year, almost 600 illegal gambling establishments were revealed in Moscow, the city’s Prosecutor Sergei Kudeneyev said on Friday.

“We have confiscated over 16,000 units of gambling equipment,” he said.

Over January - June, the police opened 21 criminal cases on illegal organisation of gambling.

“Though it is twice more against the previous period /January - June, 2012/, the number of opened criminal cases cannot be compared with the number of revealed underground establishments,” Moscow’s prosecutor said.

Most often, organisers of illegal gambling establishments are brought to administrative responsibility.
