Chinese helicopters arrive at Chelyabinsk airbase for Russian-Chinese war games

YEKATERINBURG, August 1 (Itar-Tass) - An air force of the People’s Liberation Army of China arrived at the airbase Shagol in the Chelyabinsk region on Thursday to participate in Russian-Chinese anti-terrorism exercises Peace Mission-2013, which are being held at the Chebarkul firing range. The Chinese pilots are getting ready for flights to the firing range, the press service of the Central Military District told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

“Crews of Z-9 and Mi-171 helicopters passed over 4,000 kilometres with eight landings on the way from the Shenyang Military District. The Mi-8 helicopters of the Central Military District were escorting the Chinese air force during the flight,” the press service said.

Meanwhile, the group of Chinese JH-7A fighter-bombers is waiting for a departure from the airfield Tolmachevo in the Novosibirsk region. The Chinese fighter-bombers are expected to arrive in the area of military exercises on Friday.

The military exercises Peace Mission-2013 is being held from July 27 until August 15, over 1,500 servicemen and about 100 units of military hardware are participating in the war games.
