Trade center roof collapses in Krasnodar

Heavy rain cited as case; no one injured

KRASNODAR, July 30. (Itar-Tass) - The roof of a large trade centre Baucentre, which sells home improvement and construction products on the Rostovskoye highway, collapsed in Krasnodar on Tuesday.

“The incident occurred at 08:30am Moscow time on Tuesday. Presumably around 400 square metres of roof caved in,” press service of the Krasnodar regional police department told Itar-Tass. It was later clarified that only 100 square meters caved in, and 300 square meters were partially damaged.  Heavy rain was cited as the cause of the collapse. No one was injured.

“Police patrols and private security guards arrived at the accident site, they are fencing off the territory; the traffic police is regulating the area during rush our to prevent traffic jams and provide passage to vehicles. A team of detectives is working at the site,” the police noted. 39 people and 12 machinery units are involved in cleanup of the aftermath.
