Yanukovich awards Patriarch Kirill with Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise

KIEV, July 27 (Itar-Tass) - President Viktor Yanukovich has awarded Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia with the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of I degree on the occasion of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus.

“I hereby resolve to award Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia with the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of I degree for the outstanding church activities in order to rise the authority of Orthodoxy in the world and on the occasion of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus,” the presidential press service reported.

Patriarch Kirill has conducted a special praying service jointly with the hierarchs of the Local Orthodox Churches.

The Ukrainian president also decreed to award the patriarchs and metropolitans. He presented the Order of Liberty to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia has been awarded with the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of I degree.
