Five die, nine injured as bus collides with minibus in N Novgorod region

MOSCOW, July 20 (Itar-Tass) - Five people died in a traffic accident with a Gazel minibus in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Russia’s EMERCOM told Itar-Tass on Saturday.

At 10:20 Moscow time in the Lyskov district at the 529th kilometre of the Volga highway, a truck and a minibus got collided.

“Five people died immediately, and nine injured were taken to hospital,” the source said.

The local traffic police told Itar-Tass that a Mercedes truck, which went from Kazakhstan towards Kazan, was driving around a car and got to the opposite lane. The truck collided with a Gazel, which went from Mariy El /republic/ to Nizhny Novgorod. The minibus drove into the ditch, the police said.

Rescuers, doctors and the police are working at the site. The traffic along the Moscow-Ufa road is partially blocked.
