University Games facilities to be used by residents and guests of Kazan - Medvedev

"I think that this is a very noble goal,” he added

KAZAN, July 17 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev believes that a huge number of people should be able to use the facilities left over from the 27th World Summer Student Games in Kazan.

"The University Games are not only an opportunity to put up a good show and show what Kazan looks like and what changes are taking place. It is also an opportunity to leave the heritage of the World Student Games for a huge number of people who will use sport facilities, roads, infrastructure and all other things that had been created in Kazan for the 27th World Summer University Games,” the Russian prime minister said at a meeting with Tatarstan’s President Rustam Minnikhanov on Wednesday.

"I think that this is a very noble goal,” he added.

Minnikhanov replied that everything that had been built in Kazan was meant for the people rather than competitions.

Medvedev thanked everybody who had made a contribution to this sport holiday, including volunteers and all residents of Kazan who gave such a warm and hearty welcome to the athletes and fans. The prime minister said that events like the World Student Games were the most unifying of all.

Minnikhanov also noted the success of Russian athletes at the 27th World Summer Student Games. ‘We should show the same good performance at the Winter Olympic Games,” he said.
