CHITA, July 17 (Itar-Tass) - The landing of the tactical airborne force was made by the 11th separate airborne brigade at the firing range Tsugol in the Chita Region on Wednesday during the second stage of large-scale snap drills of the forces of the Eastern and Central Military Districts, the Long-Range and Military Transport Aviation and the formation of the Pacific Fleet, the press service and information department of the Russian Defence Ministry told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

Russian President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin, who will arrive at the 247th multi-service firing range Tsugol of the Eastern Military District on Wednesday, will be watching the final stage of large-scale military exercises of the forces of Central and Eastern Military Districts.

The airplanes Il-76 airlifted two reinforced squadrons to the designated area from the airfield Vostochny in Ulan-Ude and will land with the weapons in the unknown terrain of the closest rear of a conventional enemy.

The task of the paratroopers is to entrench themselves on the frontline in order to support the movement of the main forces of the 29th, 36th and 41st armies and the overcoming of a water obstacle. Using the surprise effect and acting rapidly in the rear, the airborne formations with the firearms and anti-tank weapons will disrupt resistance of a conventional enemy and will avert the use of fire on motorized and tank units of the main forces.

During the military exercises to control the actions of the troops and the forces and for the air reconnaissance the combat systems with the drones will be used. The information from the drones will be transmitted in the real time mode not only to the command posts in the area of the military exercises, but also to the Central Command Post of the General Staff.

The military formations are drilling the training combat tasks at 17 firing ranges, and the warships of the Pacific Fleet in the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan (the East Sea). The 35th and 36th Armies, the 18th machine gun-artillery division were involved in a fire drill, the drills of driving and fire control at the firing ranges of the Eastern Military District within the preparations to the tactical exercises. The warships of the landing formation of the Pacific Fleet are drilling practical actions within the formation and are performing an artillery fire drill.
