Kazan Universiade proves success - sports minister

KAZAN, July 16 (Itar-Tass) - The Kazan Universiada has become the biggest event in the history of Universiade games. The games have been a success, said Russian sports minister Vitaly Mutko, summing up the results of the games which officially end on July 17.

"The Games have proved a success; they were the biggest games in the Universiade history. The Games aroused an enormous interest in the world. The broadcasts from the Universiade grounds were made to 110 world countries, and the overall TV audiences numbered three billion," the minister said.

A total of 770,000 sports fans attended the Universiade Games in Kazan. "The Russian national sports team has demonstrated a bright performance. In future, the Russian athletes should be among the three top medalists at competitions of the highest rank,” Mutko said.
