MINSK, July 16. /ITAR-TASS reporter Andrey Fomin/. Israeli President Shimon Peres became owner of a rare document. He has been solemnly handed a commemorative certificate confirming that he was born on August 2, 1923 in the Belarusian land in the village of Vishnyovo. This has reported today the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.
Head of Africa and Middle East Department of the Foreign Ministry Igor Leschenya, handing over the certificate to Peres, said that "the Israeli president is always welcome in his native land."
The Foreign Ministry of Belarus noted that the ceremonial presentation of the commemorative certificate to Shimon Peres is just one of the activities organized by the Belarusian side in connection with the upcoming 90th anniversary of the famous countryman. Earlier in Vishnyovo, in presence of the daughter of the head of the Israel Tsvia Walden, has been opened a memorial plaque on the house where Shimon Peres was born and grew up.
