Administration of Moscow region gives additional help to families of Podolsk traffic accident victims

All in all 30 million roubles will be allocated for compensations to the families of the victims and the injured survivors

KRASNOGORSK, July 16 (Itar-Tass) - The administration of the Moscow region will give an additional lump sum worth 1,500,000 roubles to families of the victims who were killed in a traffic accident near the town of Podolsk, social welfare minister of the region Valentina Lagunkina said at a meeting of the regional government on Tuesday.

The money will be allocated from a reserve fund. All in all 30 million roubles will be allocated for compensations to the families of the victims and the injured survivors, Lagunkina said.

On July 13 eighteen people were killed and more than 60 injured when a Kamaz truck carrying gravel rammed into a bus near the village of Ozbobishino on the territory of new Moscow, which was joined to the capital last year.

In the wake of the deadly bus crash deputies of the State Duma and the legislature of the Moscow region have proposed tightening both traffic regulations and punishment for them.

First deputy chairman of the regional government Ildar Gabdrakhmanov has called to tighten control over transit freight trucks, inspect all Mostransavto vehicles used for such transportations and amend the existing legislation.

He also urged traffic police to bring under control load parameters of cargoes transported by heavy trucks because one of the reasons of the deadly bus crash was that the truck was heavily overweight.
