KAZAN, July 14 (Itar-Tass) - The spirit of the World Student Games has united people of various nationalities from across the globe, Miss Tatarstan-2013, Diana Krasnova, told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

“I am very happy that Kazan has won the right to host such a spectacular event as the Universiade. Thanks to these Games, the city has changed a lot, becoming better and more beautiful. An utterly different atmosphere reigns here. It is an atmosphere of love and good will. People are joyful, happy to meet each other. In other words, the Universiade has united very different people,” she said.

According to Krasnova, the entire republic has benefited from the Games. “The Univesriade will leave not only sports facilities and the modernized city but also a positive attitude to people,” she noted.

Apart from that, the Student Games have done much to popularize sports. “Whereas several years ago it was voguish to smoke and drink, now I see that it is much more popular to be an athlete, to be in good fit,” she said.

“Such events like the Universiade are very useful. They open our country to the rest of the world, they demonstrate our riches. I am proud of my republic and of my country,” she stressed.
