Flights from Khabarovsk delayed during armed forces sudden check

The sudden comprehensive check of troops was launched in accordance with the Russian president's order

MOSCOW, July 13 (Itar-Tass) - Flights from Khabarovsk were delayed for ten hours during the sudden check of the Eastern Military District troops' combat readiness, Russian Transport Air Force Commander Vladimir Benediktov said at the meeting in the Russian Defence Ministry’s situation centre on Saturday.

According to him, the delay was caused by the denial of Khomutovo airport in Yuzno-Sakhalinsk to give confirmation that the command's planes would be accepted free of charge.

The sudden comprehensive check of troops of the Eastern Military District and some forces of the Central Military District was launched in accordance with the Russian president's order. It started at 01:00 Moscow time on Saturday and will last for a week to July 20. About 160,000 servicemen, about 1,000 tanks and combat armoured vehicles, 130 aircraft and up to 70 ships of the Navy are placed on alert.
