MOSCOW, July 11 (Itar-Tass) - The LDPR has thanked road traffic inspectors of the Volgograd region for detaining four assailants who hurt Russian State Duma deputy Roman Khudyakov on July 10.

The LDPR believes that not the attackers but the inspectors who have detained the criminals should be in public spotlight in the media. "A positive outcome should not shadow those who took part in the detention,” the party said.

In a statement released by the party’s press service on Thursday, the LDPR is calling attention to the fact that the road policemen seriously risked their lives when inspecting the inside of the land rover where they found traumatic pistols adjusted for combat shooting and thirty cartridges.

"The LDPR would like to thank the inspectors of the Volgograd region for their prompt actions, high professionalism and vigilance,” the LDPR press service said.

A Toyota Land Cruiser made a dangerous manoeuvre on Moscow’s Berezhkovskaya embankment at 19:30 on July 9 creating an emergency situation for a car driven by the deputy. The land rover then pinned the deputy to the roadside. The driver and a passenger got out of the Toyota Land Cruiser and using obscene language punched Khudyakov on his head several times. After that, they escaped from the scene.

The four suspects were detained near the Gorodishche settlement in the Volgograd region on July 10. All of them are natives of Dagestan. One of them had a private bodyguard certificate issued in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan. The road policemen discovered and confiscated two traumatic pistols and cartridges from the land rover.

According to the Russian Interior Ministry reports, the two detainees were extremely aggressive. Therefore, the policemen had to put handcuffs on them.

A plane took the four to Moscow. A source at the Russian Investigation Committee says that Roman Khudyakov has arrived at the investigative department to identify the assailants. He has already identified one man. Investigators are demanding an arrest of the four suspects on charges of attacking a State Duma deputy.
