MOSCOW, July 9 (Itar-Tass) -The Investigative Committee /SK/ has taken under special control the probe into the murder of Novoye Delo journalist Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev.
At around 07:00, Moscow time, on Tuesday, an unidentified person fired on the journalist who was in his car in Yuzhnaya Street, village of Semender in suburban Makhachkala. Akhmednabiyev died of his wounds on the spot. The SK department for Dagestan initiated criminal proceedings under Article 105 /murder/ and Article 222 /illegal turnover of weapons/ of Russia's penal code.
Akhemdnabiyev survived the first assassination attempt on his life in 2012.
"The investigators are considering various motives behind the attack. Professional activity of the journalist is however the main lead," the SK press service said.
A group of SK personnel is working at the scene.
