Journalist of Dagestan’s weekly killed

The basic version of the murder motive is connected with his professional activities

MAKHACHKALA, July 9 (Itar-Tass) - A journalist of Dagestan’s weekly Novoe Delo, Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev, was killed early on Tuesday, the press service of the North Caucasus republic’s Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass.

Akhmednabiyev was driving his car in the village of Semender, when unidentified criminals opened fire at him.

He died of multiple wounds. An investigation is underway.

The basic version of the murder motive is connected with his professional activities. According to investigators, this is the second attempt at it. On January 11, 2013 Akhmednabiyev was shot outside his home in the village of Samandar, when he was getting into the car. Four bullets fired at him miraculously flew by. The investigation of the case brought then did not produce any results.The victim has repeatedly stated that he receives on his phone text messages with threats. Akhmednabiyev also was included in the so-called hit list released a few years ago in Dagestan.
