Investigative bodies begin inquiry in gas blast at Krasnoyarsk hydropower plant

Two people died in the blast, one of them was hospitalized with wounds

KRASNOYARSK, July 8 (Itar-Tass) - The explosion of the gas-air mixture at the Krasnoyarsk hydropower plant broke out during the painting works, the Main Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee (SK) reported on Monday.

The incident occurred at about 17:40 local time (13:40 Moscow time) at the premises of the hydropower plant. Two people died in the blast, one of them was hospitalized with wounds in the city Divnogorsk. The dam of the hydropower plant was not damaged. The investigative bodies of the Russian Investigative Committee in the Krasnoyarsk Territory are conducting a procedural inquiry over the incident, the SK Main Investigation Department reported. Upon the results of the procedural inquiry a procedural decision will be taken. All details of the incident are being investigated.

The press service of the En+Group Company, in which the hydropower plant is incorporated, noted that “the committee, which will make public the data about the incident later, was formed.”

“The Krasnoyarsk hydropower plant operates in the routine mode,” the press service of the company added.
