NEW YORK, July 6 (Itar-Tass) - A passenger Boeing 777 belonging to the Republic of Korea’s Asiana Arilines crashed while landing at San Francisco on Saturday, July 6.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the accident.

The number of passengers aboard the plane and the flight number are being ascertained. According to media reports, the plane flying from Seoul was making an emergency landing.

American TV stations are broadcasting images from the scene of the accident, showing pieces of the plane strewn over the runway and thick smoke billowing above them.
