KAZAN, July 5 (Itar-Tass) -Kazan Universiade has cost 4.5 billion dollars, Claude-Louis Gallien, President of The International University Sports Federation (FISU) said at a news conference on Friday.

The president stressed that most facilities built for Universiade will remain in demand after it ends. At first sight the sum of 4.5 billion dollars sounds rather impressive, he said. However, one should understand that sports facilities will be widely used in the future, including at the 2015 World Swimming Championship and the 2018 World Cup, he stressed.

Besides, this money has helped to improve the city infrastructure, attract a lot of tourists and make the city economically more attractive for potential investors, Claude-Louis Gallien stressed.

He said he believed this money will pay off.
