MOSCOW, July 5 (Itar-Tass) - President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation (SCRF) in the Kremlin here on Friday. The presidential press service reported that the SCRF meeting would be devoted to ways to improve the military organizational structure of the RF for the period until 2020.

The Supreme Commander-in-Chief repeatedly emphasized that "to ensure a reliable defence capacity of Russia is a priority of the State policy". "The contemporary world, unfortunately, is far from a calm and safe development so far. The old chronic conflicts are compounded by new, no less complex ones. There is mounting instability in vast regions of the world. And we must be prepared at any moment to defend our country and its citizens, and be able to forecast a situation in the long-term perspective and develop our military capability accordingly," Putin said earlier.

In order to attain this goal before 2020, it is planned to renew the main types of armament by 70 percent. With this end in view, budget appropriations for defence have been substantially augmented. "Cardinal reforms in the military sphere are a difficult and complex process but they have long been ripe. To postpone the reform process means to put the country's security in jeopardy," the President maintains.

The military estabalishment of Russia comprises the Armed Forces of the RF, other troops, military formations and agencies that are designed to accomplish military security tasks by military methods. The military organizational structure of the State also includes defence research and production centers.
