KAZAN, July 4 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s national team hopes to win medals already on the first day of the World Student Games in Taratstan’s capital Kazan, President of the Russian Student Sports Union Oleg Matytsin told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

“Our athletes feel comfortable, they are in good moods. They are determined to win. Even acclaimed athletes - Olympic and World champions - are highly motivated. WE are very glad that gymnast Aliya Mustafina is going to take part in the competitions. She is a person of ambition and character. She has had health problems but now she is OK. Her taking part in the games will give an extra impetus to the team. We hope that the Russian team will win medals already on the first day of competitions, July 7, when springboard diving, judo and belt wrestling competitions are scheduled. We must do it,” he stressed.

According to Matytsin, half of the members of the Russian sports delegation have already arrived in Kazan. The delegation has 663 athletes and 337 officials.
