Police looking into theft of funds in Russia's special economic zone

Resorts of the North Caucasus paid 275 million roubles to 1st Highland Construction Company for alleged inspection of the works completed by a contractor

MOSCOW, July 4 (Itar-Tass) - Police searched offices of contractors of the Resorts of the North Caucasus /KSK/ company in Moscow and St Petersburg within the framework of the case over theft of money allocated for the construction of infrastructure facilities in special economic zones, the Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

"Police are finding out the circumstances under which the technical customer, 1st Highland Construction Company, obtained the right to carry out works without having proper licences. A check is underway into the report that the services by this company were regularly paid for by the former KSK administration regardless of whether or not it completed any works. According to the available information, an annual sum of payment to the technical customer reached over 20 million roubles."

In all, the KSK paid 275 million roubles to 1st Highland Construction Company for alleged inspection of the works completed by a contractor.
