SUKHUM, July 3 (Itar-Tass) - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accepted the invitation to visit Abkhazia from the republic's President Alexander Ankvab with gratitude, and promised to make this visit soon, the press service of the Abkhazian Embassy in Russia told reporters.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro who is making a visit to Russia, attended the Comandante Hugo Chavez commemorative meeting on July 2. Abkhazian Ambassador to Russia Igor Akhba, who was present at the meeting, passed the invitation to Nicolas Maduro from the Abkhazian president during a pause in the function.

Venezuela recognized Abkhazia's independence in September 2009.
