YAROSLAVL, July 3 (Itar-Tass) - Alexander Nechayev has been appointed acting mayor of the town of Yaroslavl. Nechayev is deputy of mayor Yevgeny Urlashov for social policy and culture, the Town Hall press service told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

"All the services in town are operating in normal mode. The permanent commissions of town municipalities held routine sessions at 10:00, Moscow time. Earlier, police said Urlashov and three of his subordinates were suspected of extorting a 45-million-rouble bribe.

The Investigative Committee said they had demanded money from the director of a commercial firm. Searches were conducted in the suspects' apartments.
