YAROSLAVL, July 3 (Itar-Tass) - Yaroslavl Region Governor Sergei Yastrebov has been informed that police detained overnight to Wednesday Yaroslavl Mayor Yevgeny Urlashov.

Besides, he was told that Urlashov and some staffers of the Mayor’s Office are suspected of an attempt to take a bribe, sources from the regional government’s mass communications department told Tass.

“The most important thing at the moment is to ensure a stable functioning of all vital systems of the city,” the department quoted the governor as saying.

The mayor of Russia’s Volga River city of Yaroslavl and three of his subordinates are suspected of an attempt to take a bribe, the regional investigative committee reported on Wednesday.

According to the investigation, the mayor and his subordinates were exacting a bribe worth 14 million roubles from the director of a commercial agency within the period from December 2012 to July 2, 2013.
