MAKHACHKALA, June 23 (Itar-Tass) - In the village of Kohabrosso in Dagestan’s Untsukulsky district indentified people attempted killing Imam of the local mosque - Magomed Abdullayev.
The republic’s Interior Ministry said "three unidentified men broke into the Mufti’s house Mufti and tried to kill him."
The religious figure resisted the bandits and opened fire, where one of the attackers was killed. During the shootout the Imam’s wife and son were injured and taken to hospital.
The republic’s Investigative Committee says the attacker might be a local resident of the village of Kimri.
The investigation is underway.
