Putin, Italy prime minister to meet on sidelines of G8 summit next week - Lavrov

This meeting will be the first meeting at the top level after the new Italian government was formed

MOSCOW, June 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta at a forthcoming G8 summit in Britain, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after the negotiations with his visiting Italian counterpart Emma Bonino here on Saturday.

“A meeting between the Russian president and the Italian prime minister will be held on the sidelines of a G8 summit in Lough Erne next week,” the minister said. “This meeting will be the first meeting at the top level after the new Italian government was formed,” he said. “The meeting will allow setting the guidelines for moving forward,” he noted.

“We also discussed other contacts at the top level before the end of this year, including a next round of the interstate consultations in Italy under the chairmanship of the Russian president and the Italian prime minister” Lavrov added.
