NALCHIK, June 9 (Itar-Tass) - The policeman, who was wounded this night in an armed attack on a squad of the patrol-guard police service in the centre of Nalchik, died, the press service of the Interior Ministry of Kabardino-Balkaria told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
“At around 23:50 MSK two unknown perpetrators opened fire on police patrol-guard service officers of the city Interior Department in Nogmova Street,” the press service reported. One police officer was wounded. One of the attackers was killed by return fire.
The killed militant was identified as a 36-yar-old resident of the Tersky district, who had been convicted previously for illegal turnover of weapons, the source said.
A VAZ-2109 car was found not far from the site. The attackers must have used it, the police said.
