PIONERSKY, Kaliningrad region, June 6 (Itar-Tass) - The use chemical weapons in Syria becomes a subject to speculations and provocations and can be a pretext for the intervention to the country, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Lavrov said, “I don’t rule out that certain forces can say the red line is crossed and the military intervention was indispensable.”
It is necessary to reveal all facts related to the use of chemical weapons in Syria. “To this end, we believe that the U.N. Secretariat made a mistake when it did not react to the Syrian leadership’s request and demanded unimpeded access to the territory,” the Russian minister said.
“We wait for our Turkish colleagues to inform us about the detention of militants on their territory. We’d like to clarify all these issues,” he added.
