MOSCOW, June 6 (Itar-Tass) - The metro trains on the Sokolniki metro line will run with usual intervals after 10:00 Moscow time, the Moscow transport department said on Thursday. “Over the elimination of the aftermaths of the incident, which occurred on the Sokolniki metro line yesterday, the metro trains from the metro station Park Kultury to the metro station Komsomolskaya are running will longer intervals,” the department said. “The metro train traffic is expected to be restored according to the routine schedule before 10:00 Moscow time,” the department reported.
The fire broke out on an area of ten linear metres over the short circuit of the high voltage cable in the morning rush hour in the tunnel between the metro stations Okhotny Ryad and Biblioteka Imeni Lenina on June 5. The metro train traffic was restored from the metro station Park Kultury to Komsomolskaya. The metro stations Krasnye Vorota, Chistye Prudy, Lubyanka, Okhotny Ryad, Biblioteka Imeni Lenina and Kropotkinskaya were closed from 08:17 Moscow time to 13:45 Moscow time on Wednesday. These metro stations were opened at 14:10 Moscow time.
For the transportation of passengers additional 40 buses and trolleybuses were provided.
The Moscow prosecutor’s office launched an inquiry over the ignition of the power cable in the metro tunnel.
