YEKATERINBURG, June 3 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Yekaterinburg on Monday to take part in the 31st Russia-EU summit.
Later in the day, Putin will meet chairman of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso. During the narrowed-format meeting, the Russian and EU leaders will discuss the state of world economy, the economic situation in Russia and the EU, the activity of the G-20 in the context of Russia’s chairmanship and the situation in Syria, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told journalists.
On June 4, the delegations will meet at a plenary session and then the Russian and EU leaders will hold a joint press conference.
The summiteers are also expected to sign an agreement on drugs precursors. Head of the Russian Federal Drug Control Service Viktor Ivanov will sign the document.
The summit will also involve the ministers, other officials and experts. Russia’s delegation includes Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov, Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Economic Development Minister Andrei Belousov.
