Russian concerned over attack on Red Cross in Afghanistan - FM

On May 29 a group of insurgents attacked the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad

MOSCOW , May 30 (Itar-Tass) - Russia has expressed indignation and concern over insurgents’ attack on the International Committee of the Red Cross in Afghanistan, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

“On May 29 a group of insurgents attacked the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, killing and injuring several people,” the ministry said. “There are reports saying that a mission chief was injured.”

“We especially feel indignant at the fact that the terror act was committed against the International Committee of the Red Cross, which main mission is to provide medical and humanitarian assistance to those in need,” the ministry said.
