The detectives found that unidentified criminals planted an explosive device made of ammonium saltpetre and aluminium powder with striking pieces with the power of 500 grams of trotyle in the Zhiguli luggage compartment. The luggage compartment also contained a gas cylinder, which triggered the fire in the blast. The bomb was detonated remotely with a remote control panel of the car alarming system.

The republican investigation department noted that the incident occurred on Day of Border Guard celebrated on Tuesday. The offenders knew the daily route of the bus and took advantage of this circumstance. The detectives also found that the exploded car was registered for a female resident of the republic. A criminal case was opened over the bomb blast case, particularly for the attempt on the life of a law enforcer, premeditated damage of property, illegal circulation of explosives and explosive devices and illegal making of explosive devices.
