Heroism of those, who were the first to stand on the way of the invaders, protect the homeland, will be kept in the memory of people forever

MOSCOW, May 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the staff and veterans of the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service on Day of Border Guard, the Kremlin press service reported on Tuesday.

“I congratulate you on Day of Border Guard and the 95th anniversary of adopting the decree on the establishment of the border guard service,” the president said in a congratulatory message. “In all times the border guards protected reliably the borders of the Fatherland. Heroism, valour and the strength of the spirit of those, who were the first to stand on the way of the invaders, protect the homeland, will be kept in the memory of people forever and in the historical annuls of the country,” the president said.

“The current generation of border guards protects carefully and enriches professional, combat and patriotic traditions of their predecessors. Today ensuring the security of the state borders is linked with the settlement of the whole scope of serious, responsible tasks. A tough barrier should be put up against international terrorism, drug business and illegal migration, and the threats to economic security should be combated actively,” Putin said in the congratulatory message.
