MOSCOW, May 23 (Itar-Tass) - The disturbances, which put a spell on the Middle East and North Africa, will be long-term and painful most apparently, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at an international conference on security here on Thursday.
“The whole scope of factors exerts an influence on the security in all countries, including the Euro-Atlantic Region,” he noted. “A growing military and political instability, the enlargement of the turbulence zones in international relations, stronger elements of chaos in them are particularly important,” Lavrov remarked. “It is obvious that the disturbances that embraced the Middle East and North Africa will be long-term and painful most apparently and will sooner be accompanied with higher risks far beyond the region,” Lavrov pointed out.
“It is possible to rebuff these and other threats only on the path of building collective actions of the international community on the basis of a strict compliance with the norms and principles of the international law,” the minister said with confidence.
“As President Vladimir Putin noted repeatedly, already no one can solve global problems in economy and politics alone and this is the main feature of the new epoch,” the Russian foreign minister noted. “The supremacy of law in international relations has the same significance as in domestic affairs,” Lavrov said. “In the settlement of the critical situations it is needed to act in strict compliance with the U.N. Charter, avoiding a free interpretation of the U.N. Security Council resolutions and the attempts to solve the problems in forcible ways,” the minister underlined.
