Fire area at building material market in south-western Moscow doubles

The traffic on the Moscow Ring Road is considerably complicated in the fire area

MOSCOW, May 20 (Itar-Tass) - The fire area at a building material market in south-western Moscow has doubled, the Moscow law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass on Monday. “The fire has spread on 1,500 square metres so far,” a source in the Moscow law enforcement agencies said. The fire, which is ranked at the second point in the five-point fire scale, cannot be localized yet.

Two helicopters Ka-32, which are equipped with special water spray tanks, and about 20 fire brigades are involved in the fire-fighting.

A pavilion caught fire at 16:57 Moscow time on Monday at the building material market Melnitsa at the 41st kilometre of the external side of the Moscow Ring Road, at first the fire area reached 400 square metres.

No people were reported injured.
