Twelve out of 32 woodland fires put out in Russian Far East

Starting from March, 500 fires engulfing an area of almost 85,000 hectares have been fixed in the Far Eastern Federal District

VLADIVOSTOK, May 20 (Itar-Tass) - A total of 32 woodland fires have been fixed in Russia’s Far East over the past 24 hours, and 12 of them have already been put out, the press service of the regional forestry department reports on Monday.

Starting from March, 500 fires engulfing an area of almost 85,000 hectares have been fixed in the Far Eastern Federal District.

Nineteen wildfires continue raging in Yakutia and one - in the Khabarovsk region. Over 650 firemen assisted by 75 units of hardware including aircraft fight against the blaze.
