BEIJING, May 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russian climber Alexei Bolotov has died during ascent to Mount Everest along a new route, a spokesman for the Russian Federation of Mountain Climbing told Itar-Tass Wednesday.
Bolotov died by falling into an abyss. The tragedy occurred at a height of more than 5,000 meters.
Preliminary assessments say the accident caused by a high degree of wear of the safety lanyard, which separated under the strain.
