MOSCOW, May 15 (Itar-Tass) - U.S. ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul has been summoned to the Foreign Ministry and lodged a protest over a CIA career officer’s attempt to recruit an officer of the Russian security services, the Russian Foreign Ministry said after the talks between Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and McFaul on Wednesday.

“A protest was lodged with the ambassador over the attempt taken by an officer of the Central Intelligence Agency, Ryan Christopher Fogle, who worked under the cover of the post of the third secretary of the political department of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, to recruit an officer of one of the Russian security services,” the ministry said. “The U.S. diplomat caught red handed was declared persona non grata and should leave the Russian Federation immediately.”
